Quality Improvement Council

Serve as key regional leaders and partners in community-based initiatives and efforts to reduce disparities in the quality of healthcare, locally and nationally.

  • Identify the problems related to quality and healthcare disparities.

  • Host Town Hall meetings

  • Identify key concerns, ideas, and initiatives

  • Sponsor education and outreach programs

  • Develop measuring tools to gauge how we are doing.

Define and formulate benchmarks for quality of care for minority and underserved populations.

  • Research and analysis of needs and gaps

  • Measure available data for respective diseases, conditions, and issue areas

  • Identify cost-effective, efficacious, and evidence-based strategies

Identify system-wide barriers (provider and consumer side) to providing high quality health care and create/ find workable solutions.

  • Create community initiatives based on research outcomes

  • 2006 Minority Health Symposium (focus: diabetes)

  • Develop outreach and education projects that promote creative thinking and skill development
