Volunteers CACHE is a non-profit organization that creates collaborative partnerships focused on improving health by eliminating health disparities that affect racial, ethnic, and other at-risk populations. Our goals are to improve access to health care, quality of health care, cultural and linguistic competency, and promote education and research.
Carolinas Association HIV/AIDS FACTS * HIV/AIDS affects all countries and all people, irrespective of sexual preferences or life style choices. *25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981. *Approximately 38.6 million people worldwide were living with HIV at the end of 2005. *HIV/AIDS disproportionately affects African Americans and Hispanics. *African American youth, ages 13-24, account for 55% of all HIV infections reported.

MedAssist of Mecklenburg
MedAssist of Mecklenburg, the county’s only free non-profit pharmacy serving uninsured residents of Mecklenburg County, is having an open house on October 26th from noon until 2:00 pm.
The public is invited to attend. Food and drinks will be served. Since 1997, MedAssist has assisted approximately 10,000 individuals with diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and asthma obtain free medications and health care services. In the last ten years, MedAssist has dispensed $22 million in prescription drugs for FREE to eligible residents. MedAssist’s services has helped to save $10 million dollars in health care costs saved to the County.
MedAssist begins new service hours on October 22, 2007. Beginning on the 22nd, MedAssist’s pharmacy will be open 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday. MedAssist may be able to help someone you love fight the high cost of prescription drugs.
